What To Do If Eufy Camera Not Recording Events

Smart technology is great, that is until it works. Security cameras are such a category that sometimes makes us work for them, which should be the other way around. However, what can one do in such a situation but look for a solution? Eufy Cameras are great compared to Ring cameras, as they offer local storage options. Eufy cameras are also available at lower prices.

Eufu cameras usually work great, but sometimes Eufy cameras do not record events. Why is that so? I will briefly explain and suggest solutions for your Eufy camera not recording events.

Why Is My Eufy Camera Not Recording

If your Eufy camera is not recording events, check if the battery is charged or if the Event recording feature is disabled. Also, if your Eufy camera is in Disarmed mode, it will not detect or record any motion.

The recording issue is both a software and a bit of hardware issue. Some of the reasons that can cause the issue are discussed below.

Storage Device/Options

Eufy cameras give two recording options: local storage, where footage is stored locally and encrypted to the device. Similarly, Eufy Cloud Storage records events on the cloud, and they remain in your cloud events for a period of time as per the subscription plan. However, the Eufy camera won’t record events if you don’t have both of these options available.

You don’t need a Eufy subscription to store videos on a device.

WiFi Router

All the Eufy cameras require a 2.4 GHz WiFi network using WPA/WPA2 protocol; they are not compatible with 5GHz networks. Additionally, you need a stable internet connection with a minimum upload speed of 2Mbps.

Disarmed Mode

If you have left the DIsarmed mode enabled for the Eufy Camera in the Eufy Security app, intentionally or unintentionally, the Eufy camera won’t record events at night. The disarmed mode disables the device rather than notifications. When in disarmed mode, you cannot change the settings either.

Local Storage Is Full

If the local storage option is full, you will receive a notification that says, Eufy camera stopped recording events. Eufy supports Class-10 micro SD cards from 16 GB to 128 GB. If you have an SD card with limited storage, it will fill soon compared to an SD card with a large storage option. You can avoid the problem in both cases by enabling the overwriting option on the Eufy Security app.

How To Troubleshoot The Issue

Before troubleshooting, let’s answer the simple question first: Can Eufy camera record without WiFi? Eufy cameras can record without WiFi if the local storage option is available and the camera receives constant power. However, working without WiFi means features and functionalities limit your device.

WiFi and Power

If you are not opting for a local cloud storage option, you need a stable WiFi internet for the cloud storage. As Eufy cameras record 24/7, WiFi is a must. Similarly, the battery should be charged if you have battery-powered models for models like EufyCam S220 and eufyCam S300, among many others.

If you have a powered Eufy camera, it also needs a constant power supply to record events.

  2. Press and hold the Sync button for 10 seconds.
  3. You will hear two beeps during this time.
  4. The camera will be reset to its default settings.

After the reset, you’ll need to set up the camera again through the eufySecurity app, including connecting it to your WiFi network and configuring your preferences. Also, make sure to save any important videos before resetting.

Update The Firmware

If the firmware is up to date, you don’t have to do anything. Otherwise, you can opt for the firmware update to resolve the Eufy doorbell camera not recording events issue.

  1. Open the eufySecurity app.
  2. Go to the “Device” tab.
  3. Tap the “…” icon (ellipsis) for more options.

Conclusion

Eufy cameras offer a reliable security solution, but you may encounter an issue where the Eufy camera does not show events. You can check storage availability, ensure a stable WiFi connection, and verify motion and sound detection settings to troubleshoot.

You can reset the Eufy camera if problems persist and update the firmware as needed. These steps should help in case your Eufy camera stopped recording events.
